Tech Tonic

Here’s a sneak peek at what you can expect when BRUNCH reaches you tomorrow:

About a week after the content of the previous post appeared in the 2007 year-end issue of HT Brunch, I was asked if I was keen on doing a regular column. I was a bit hesistant at first, not sure if I’d be able to stick to non-negotiable deadlines. However, a fortnightly (at least to start with)  seemed like a good platform to develop some much needed discipline and I agreed - it would be called Tech Tonic!

I also thought it would be a nice opportunity to experiment with some New Media - Old Media synthesis. Can a dynamic daily blog compliment and more importantly supplement a column in a powerful print media outlet? Will it benefit readers and give the author some freedom beyond the confines of a single page? Is it possible to get a conversation going through the comments on the blog? Will adding features like Video, Contests, Communities etc. enrichen the user experience that begins with the Sunday paper? Lots of interesting questions to be answered and I hope techtonic.info succeeds by responding with a resounding “Totally!” to all these questions!

The column will debut on the 10th of next month and regular posting on this blog will start thereafter.  In the meanwhile, do remember to subscribe to the Hindustan Times - if not daily then at least on Sundays
